Buying shoes

Although this may sound petty, the very act of buying shoes is not very easy. A number of mistakes is commonly made while purchasing them. For instance, you shouldn't shop for shoes when your feet feel tired and swollen, they should get a rest first. After choosing a pair of shoes, spare a moment for walking them. This should be preferably made on a carpet or any other soft material, so as not to scratch or damage the sole of the shoe. Fur-lined shoes should be allowed at least half a numbering more in size. You should be careful with tightly fitted shoes because in cool weather your feet tend to narrow, whereas when it is hot they will become wider. Leather shoes can be widened. It is best to have a professional cobbler do it, not only will they take care of the form and the shape of the shoe, but also they will instruct you on the proper shoe-care. Should you buy shoes on the Internet (for example at Graand Buty online shop), please send a sketch of your foot alongside with the order. This will help a shop assistant choose the right sizing of shoes for you because the forms of shoes vary. One size may, or may not, fit. To help you purchase the best-fitting shoes, we have prepared a table of sizes and the shoe-width description. In Europe, three types of sizing are used: European, UK and American.

Here is the table of sizes

tabela
As the same size feet may be of a different build, shoes of different widths are produced. The width is calibrated in milimetres. The consecutive widths differ by 2-3 mm. For regular feet, choose the F or F1/2 width, for wider ones – G and G1/2. For extra-wide you should choose H or K. We hope your stroll will be really comfortable after a thoughtful purchase of your new shoes.

Shoe care

ciekawsotki_2We should not forget about the proper shoe care after buying them. The shops offer a countless number of products for this. If you take care about your shoes, you will be able to enjoy them for a longer time and they will also look better. It is best to remove all dirt with a damp shoe brush. It is not a good idea to dry shoes in the sun or by any sources of heat. If leather heats up rapidly, it will become wrinkled and porous. Shoe-shine or wax should be evenly spread onto smooth leather and polished with a brush after approximately 10 minutes. While cleaning your shoes, do not forget the soles or their edges and the heels. Suede is soft, elastic and delicate in touch, it is not resistant to stains and difficult in everyday maintanence. After buying such shoes, it is good to impregnate them with a special agent. Suede and velour leather should be taken care about with appropriate cleaning agents and tools, e.g. sprays and rubber brushes. Shoes should not be tightly packed, as leather should be exposed to air circulation; put your shoes into a box after cleaning them.
